Day
1 - Scenic Cape Town
Arrive in Cape Town and head for Ocean View House, where
you’ll be welcomed with traditional South African hospitality.
Take the rest of the day to make yourself comfortable.
Perhaps a little rest this afternoon or a visit to one
of Cape Town’s famous beaches?
Day 2 - Scenic Cape Town
A day to explore South Africa’s most beautiful city.
We recommend a cableway ride to the top of Table
Mountain, a visit to one of Cape Town’s many excellent
shopping malls,
a walk around Kirstenbosch
– our National Botanical Gardens – or, perhaps,
a drive to the National Park at Cape Point, returning
via Simonstown and Muizenberg. Overnight at Ocean View
House
Day 3 - Charming Stellenbosch
It’s just a half hour’s drive from the centre of Cape
Town to visit the winelands of Stellenbosch, Paarl &
Franschhoek (if you like their fine products, most of
the local winemakers will arrange to deliver your purchases
to your home – wherever that may be!). May we recommend
a traditional South African lunch under the oaks at
Spier Estate? We’ll arrange your overnight accommodation
in the Winelands from our list of preferred hotels and
guest houses: just let us know where you’d prefer to
stay: Stellenbosch, Paarl or Franschhoek
Day 4 - Quaint Arniston
Spend a little time exploring the winelands: Stellenbosch
is a university town, Paarl is an important commercial
centre and Franschhoek is a favourite destination of
wine lovers and gastronomes alike. All have many museums,
art galleries, quaint shops and historical buildings.
Early afternoon, drive out via Caledon and Bredasdorp
to your overnight destination at Waenhuiskrans/Arniston.
Day 5 - Wild Mossel Bay
The picturesque village of Arniston is a must for lovers
of the sea: the endless white beaches are renowned for
their rare and beautiful shells and their excellent
whale watching. If you want to explore the coastal road,
we suggest you start driving by mid-morning. You’ll
visit the Southern tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas (we
heartily recommend that you lunch at the restaurant
at the Agulhas Lighthouse) and Malagas (where you’ll
cross the Breede River by pont – the last man-drawn
pont in Africa) before rejoining the N2 at Heidelberg
for a short run down to Mossel Bay. On the way, stop
at the old Gourits River Bridge for a leap into the
unknown with Face
Adrenalin: face your fear and overcome it by bungy
jumping or bridge swinging with the pioneers of this
extreme sport in South Africa. Just watching is more
than an experience! Book into the Protea
Hotel Mossel Bay and enjoy dinner at the Café
Gannet.
Day 6 - Wild Mossel Bay
After a leisurely breakfast, explore the Old Post Office
Square– the Wild Culture of the Dias
Museum. There’s a shell museum and aquarium, a cultural
annex, a maritime museum with a life-size replica of
the first European ship that landed on these shores,
an ethno-botanical garden, a braille trail and the remarkable
Post Office Tree itself. Take a drive through to Great
Brak River for lunch followed by an afternoon Wild Game

are free to roam the plains at Botlierskop
Game Farm Return to Mossel Bay for dinner at the
Café
Gannet and overnight at the Protea
Hotel Mossel Bay.
Day 7 - Wild Mossel Bay
Today’s your day for the sea! This morning, meet the

You’ll spend the day being up-close and personal with
some of the most misunderstood creatures of the ocean.

Gannet and overnight at the Protea
Hotel Mossel Bay.
Day 8 - Rugged Oudtshoorn
Make an early start and take the scenic Robinson’s Pass

the Klein Karoo. May we suggest a visit to the Cango
Caves and a tour of Highgate
ostrich show farm? Stay the night at the family-run
Protea
Hotel Riempie Estate and sample home-style cooking,
or return to Mossel Bay for a romantic sunset cruise
on Mossel Bay’s Famous Romonza.
If you’re here between July and September, you’ll probably
spot a pod of whales! In the evening, enjoy dinner at
the Café
Gannet and overnight at the Protea
Hotel Mossel Bay.
Day 9 - Bustling Knysna
Another early start, for a day in Knysna (75 minutes),
a popular tourist centre and the shopping Mecca of the
Garden Route. Explore quaint stores and art galleries,
visit Featherbed
Nature Reserve or take a nostalgic train journey
to George on the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe (we suggest you
buy a one-way ticket and return to Knysna by road shuttle).
